O crescimento e o desenvolvimento s\u00e3o os principais indicadores da boa sa\u00fade de uma crian\u00e7a. Quando a ela passa a dar os primeiros passos, falar, bater palmas\u2026 e tamb\u00e9m o quanto ela mede e se seu crescimento est\u00e1 adequado para sua idade. Todos esses fatores, que s\u00e3o analisados em conjunto, ajudam a entender se a crian\u00e7a est\u00e1 dentro ou fora do esperado para sua faixa de idade.<\/p>\n

O Diabetes tipo 1 se desenvolve quando o p\u00e2ncreas n\u00e3o consegue mais produzir insulina, e acontece comumente em crian\u00e7as, adolescentes, adultos jovens, ou mesmo em beb\u00eas. \u00c9 uma doen\u00e7a que pode interferir no crescimento e no desenvolvimento da crian\u00e7a, porque afeta os n\u00edveis de glicose no corpo.<\/p>\n

As c\u00e9lulas do corpo necessitam da glicose como combust\u00edvel para realizar suas tarefas. C\u00e9lulas dos m\u00fasculos (mi\u00f3citos) precisam de glicose para se contra\u00edrem, c\u00e9lulas da retina (bastonetes e cones) precisam de glicose para enviar imagens da vis\u00e3o para o c\u00e9rebro, c\u00e9lulas do nosso c\u00e9rebro (neur\u00f4nios) precisam de glicose para transmitir nossas conex\u00f5es cerebrais. Quando uma crian\u00e7a com diabetes est\u00e1 com seus n\u00edveis de a\u00e7\u00facar no sangue descontrolados, sejam eles muito altos ou muito baixos, acontece uma dificuldade de funcionamento das c\u00e9lulas de todo o organismo. E, j\u00e1 que estamos falando de crescimento\u2026<\/p>\n

Se os n\u00edveis de a\u00e7\u00facar est\u00e3o descontrolados, as c\u00e9lulas respons\u00e1veis pela fabrica\u00e7\u00e3o dos ossos, tend\u00f5es, cartilagens tem seu crescimento prejudicado, e a tend\u00eancia \u00e9 que a crian\u00e7a cres\u00e7a menos. Da mesma forma, a chegada da puberdade tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 prejudicada, tanto em meninos como em meninas.<\/p>\n

Dessa forma, durante a fase de crescimento, \u00e9 preciso que os n\u00edveis de a\u00e7\u00facar fiquem bem controlados. Neste momento que v\u00e1rios sistemas do organismo est\u00e3o se desenvolvendo e formando, manter o controle de glicose \u00e9 fundamental para uma inf\u00e2ncia e adolesc\u00eancia saud\u00e1veis.
